touchAble Mini App Reviews

Really easy to use. If you are familiar with Ableton Live, you will have no difficulty to use TouchAble to control your DAW. This Mini version (understand: iPhone-version) of the original iPad-app takes the best out of the smaller screen of the device and remains very ergonomic. By the way, for keyboardists like me, its far easier to put an iPhone on top of our instrument than an iPad. ;-)

What a lovely little app! Great look and usability! Its simply fun and really cool to walk around in my studio room and trigger clips and scenes in session mode from everywhere, or do some muting, soloing and volume mixing. Also use it for vocal recordings, with my iPhone attached to the microphone stand with an iKlip. The controlling of effects like compressor should be a lot more graphic and intuitive, though. But Id recommend checking it out anyways.

This app is absolutely perfect in every way to control Ableton Live. Im not a computer geek but I can only imagine the amount of work that went into making this app. Create your own templates EXACTLY like you want them and use them in seconds. The customer support I experienced was fantastic. Got a reply within hours. Currently touchAble doesnt allow for dynamic mapping (blue hand) but they told me it should be implemented with an upcoming update a week from now. Once this is in, Im in heaven.

Intuitive interface. Setting this up next to my keyboard feels like an excellent extra interface for tweaking effects and mixing on the fly.

I was blown away by how easy it was to get touchable working with Ableton. I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. It has everything I need in an Ableton controller, and it is all instantly mapped in Touchable. No need to create a custom mapping like Touch Osc. I just wish I owned an iPad so I could have more surface area to work with, but everything is easily scalable. My only complaint is that the keyboard and drum pad did not respond as an input. Other than that, you can control pretty much everything from your phone that you can on the computer, and even do a few extra things that you cant do on the computer. If you are even slightly curious about it, I highly recommend it!

Wrote an email over two weeks ago asking why this app requests microphone access, and I have received no response.

I just wanted to publicly state my surprise at how low the latency and how high the accuracy is over a wireless connection, even being routed through a router. I used to have problems with connections not lasting, but this no longer seems to be a problem. This app really does low me away with what it is able to do... Wirelessly!

Touchable mini has all the features that make sense for the size of your iPhone without falling short of features that you expect. The touchable server you instal on your computer is very well implemented and detects all your live installations and install the script for you, which is a very nice touch.(pun intended) after having some technical hurdles and contacting support i found the support staff to be absolutely committed to resolving my issue. I gave this app 5 stars and i think you will too.

Why are there no reviews for this app? I have everything installed but the app cannot connect to the touchAble server which appears active on my computer (windows 7). I disabled windows firewall and re-installed bonjour as the websites guide suggested, still no server found. How can I begin using this $10 app?

However, after this most recent update, the app freezes when connecting to Ableton. It worked incredibly until then, on both iphone5s and iPad3. I uninstalled and re installed and re opened the app several dozen times and still nothing . PLEASE fix this, THIS APP IS INCREDIBLY FUN and works seamlessly

Very Cool App that I originally was not happy with, but this was due to my not setting up things within Live Midi Sync preferences. I wrote the typical "this app is junk" message at the support team of this app assuming it was going into some mailbox where nobody was ever gonna see it let alone respond to it~ boy was I surprised when Chris from app support wrote me back with the solution (and it worked!!!) The App is great and working, and support for this app is pretty much incredible in my opinion. Big shout out to Chris Blomert~ I will be recommending this to my community of Live users at the school I attend for beat production. Keep up the good work and thanks again!!

Bought this app with a open mind since i prefer to use analog equipment to control my daw, and woe this is way better than any ableton push. I could walk around the studio with every button map to app,very useful. I could go on in detail about this app , but Im telling you right now, after three days of use, every time I open a project in live Its second nature to use the app its self to track, play, and control (even plugins) with out touch the laptop twice.

Im sure it would be a sweet app if it worked...and I follow instructions diligently. Theres bugs with the server you have to download, and with the iTunes version required. Hope it works soon. Im doing pc Ableton and an iPad mini.

Just paid $10 for it, and cant even get it set up!! Shouldnt have to go back to older versions of itunes to get it to work.

Works great if you follow their instructions. I wish the mixer volume appeared on your tracks no matter what view youre looking at. Itd be nice to have a translucent overlay of that on every view, because as it stand Im still having to refer to my monitor for most things. Also, yall have clearly abandoned the app. Dont do that. Were paying good money for the app, now start supporting it.

I wish this worked as its supposed to. Ive tried on Mac OS 10.8-10.10, iOS 7 and 8, reinstalled the scripts, checked the settings, and nothing. Ive checked and posted on the forums, contacted support, also nothing. Terrible. I remember trying to use this app when WiFi was the only way to connect, and it worked well but was laggy. Now with this USB connection I thought it would be the sweetest thing ever. Unfortunately it doesnt work, and from the looks of it, it doesnt seem to be updated very frequently anymore. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Does what it says. Keeps you away from the computer. But would be nice to have a tap tempo... And could make a better layout for some parameters... Macros and maybe make it look like the templates of the ipad version. That Would be awesome

This software is awesome for remotely controlling live!! I got the bundle version back in December 2014. I have it on my iPad 2 and iPhone 6 Plus. I also had it on an iPhone 4S before I upgraded to the 6 Plus. As long as you have the latest server release, have Reinstalled the Ableton Script, and properly setup Abletons Midi Control Surface preferences, you shouldnt have any trouble with touchAble via USB or Wi-Fi. FYI, I have had server/script issues with the Beta versions of Ableton Live 9 Suite. So, I avoid using touchAble if Im Beta testing. However, if youre using an official release of Ableton, which is what I use live, then you should have zero issues. Again, this software is amazing and works perfectly!

Dont buy it yet wait for them to fix all the bugs
